Great Western - Tour description
There is the American West, our classic 15-days tour. There is the Canyon Country Tour, in its 9- and 10-days versions. Here is our 2-in-1 tour, a combination of those two tours over 18 days – about 4,500 km/2,800 miles! The West Forever Great Western motorcycle tour is our longest tour. If you choose this tour, it is because you want to see everything and know everything about the American West. Big cities such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco offer interesting stops in a trip that is mainly dedicated to the wide-open spaces and to discover the most beautiful national parks in the US. If you think you have what it takes to ride an Harley Davidson over a two weeks long period of time, then go for it – this is West Forever’s “caviar” tour!!!
The Wild West in cinemascope!

Tour Itinerary
Day | Places | Description |
---|---|---|
Day 1 | Los Angeles, Californie | Welcome to California! The sea, the sun, the palm trees. Let your vacation begin! |
Day 2 | Palm Springs, California (264 km / 164 mi) | A solemn moment: you get to meet the Harley Davidson® that you are going to spend the next 2 weeks on. Off to Palm Springs, an oasis in the middle of the desert with thousands of wind turbines. |
Day 3 | Laughlin, Nevada (342 km / 213 mi) | A smooth ride across Joshua Tree National Park. Thousand-year-old trees and cactuses as far as the eye can see. The rest of the day is dedicated to Route 66. Stop-off at the iconic Roy’s Café, this café is the playground of the Nostradmus movie. |
Day 4 | Tusayan, Arizona (Grand Canyon) (alt 2,500 m/8,250 ft) (367 km / 228 mi) | Today we will ride the most beautiful stretches of Route 66, passing through Oatman Pass, then Kingman and Williams, 2 legendary towns on the Mother Road, then we head to the 7th wonder of the world: the Grand Canyon! |
Day 5 | Kayenta, Arizona (Monument Valley) (265 km / 165 mi) | A magnificent day among the Navajo Indians, with the Grand Canyon in the morning and Monument Valley in the afternoon. How could it get any better? There is no end to the superlatives to describe this day! |
Day 6 | Moab, Utah (Arches National Park) (315 km / 195 mi) | The Valley of the Gods awaits you, but enough about that – we don’t want to spoil the surprise. The road starts to climb. Depending on the season, there may still be snow on the surrounding mountaintops. We will then head down toward Moab, the 4x4 capital. At sunset, we will paint Arches National Park red. Totally fascinating! |
Day 7 | Moab, Utah (Canyonlands) (150 km / 95 mi) | A relaxing day in Moab. We will only drive as far as it takes to visit this park formed by the meanders of the Green River and the Colorado. Mind-blowing! If you feel like it, you can check out Dead Horse Point on the way back. Another amazing site on the great West Forever tour! |
Day 8 | Bryce Canyon, Utah (490 km / 305 mi) | After a day off, here’s a day for riders, with three very different parks interspersed along gorgeous roads: Capitol Reef, Escalante and Bryce Canyon! Wow! |
Day 9 | Las Vegas, Nevada (438 km / 272 mi) | Only one park is schedule for today, but what a park – Zion National Park seems to be here to remind us of the power of God before we confront the power of man in Las Vegas, the city of light. Place your bets and let yourself go all night long! |
Day 10 | Furnace Creek – Death Valley, California (249 km / 155 mi) | Time to hang out in Vegas in the morning, then it’s off to Death Valley. You will be one of the rare tourists to spend the night in it and one of the rare bikers to cross it. West Forever supplies unlimited amounts of water during the crossing of the Death Valley. |
Day 11 | Mammoth Lakes, California (322 km / 200 mi) | Ski resort in the Sierra Nevada. Quite a contrast – after the desert comes the coolness of the mountain lakes and rivers! |
Day 12 | Sonora, California (257 km / 160 mi) | Bodie, the ghost town. Then Sonora Pass, in the Yosemite mountains. Raging streams, marmots, snow hanging on from last winter… But we are not the Alps anymore! |
Day 13 | San Francisco, California (247 km / 153 mi) | A triumphant entry over the Golden Gate Bridge on your Harley Davidson, then down to Lombard Street! A shout out to the king of customization: Arlen Ness. Evening in Chinatown! |
Day 14 | Free time in San Francisco | Cable car tour up and down the steep slopes of the streets of San Francisco. Visit to Sausalito, the hippy Mecca of 1968, Fisherman’s Wharf, the trendy port sector. San Francisco at night is a festival of light! Let yourself give in to its charms! |
Day 15 | San Luis Obispo, California (436 km / 271 mi) | The trip ends with a bang! Perhaps the most beautiful road in the world, between the blue of the Pacific Ocean and green of the California hills. The morning mist gives way to the midday sun. It doesn’t get any better than this! |
Day 16 | Los Angeles, California (295 km / 183 mi) | Via Santa Barbara and its mission and after lunch in Malibu where we’ll look around for Pamela Anderson, our team’s trip comes to an end. Lifelong friendships have been forged. We give each other hugs and exchange our addresses. We’ve been down a long road together. Pure happiness! |
Day 17 | Time to say goodbye, see you soon on another West Forever motorcycle tour! |
